Musings À La Mode: 90’s Grunge

“Yo, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really really really wanna zigazig ha.”

Yep. That’s right. I just shamelessly quoted (and sung along in my head) to the Spice Girls.

But why one earth would I begin a post singing along to one of the biggest 90’s hits?
The answer is oh so simple and oh so exciting!

You guessed it, 90’s Grunge is back with a vengeance (and the best vengeance i’ve ever heard of!)
This trend is now accentuated with plaids, evening rocking the plaid on plaid! (if you dare)

We saw this style fluently grace the catwalk wearing Dries Van Noten’s designs. Perfectly depicting what it means to be grunge with a twist of class.
Also hopping on board was Chloé Comme Parris, in their Fall 2013 collection putting a edgy, gothic theme on the trend, focusing mainly on darker tones.

What I love about this style is the effortlessness.Chuck a plaid flannelette round your waist, paired with some ripped jeans and a loose tee and your good to go.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, and rock the grunge like it’s 1999.
